Waka Ama

In Te Maunga we have been learning to write a quality recount. We did waka ama every Tuesday. Here is my story about waka ama.

Waka Ama

On the 31st of October 2017 Te Maunga went waka ama down in Waitangi so Constable Rob can teach us how to paddle our waka.

When we were getting set up for waka ama Constable Rob taught us how to put a life jacket on also we helped carry out the waka out into the salty water. I was jumping up and down and running around like a slithery snake.

We were all jumping in the waka so we could have a turn. When we were paddling we were using our hoe of Tu Maia never giving up. When I was paddling my arms felt like a squiggly noodle.

After waka ama we had free time I was skimming the rocks across the bumpy water and the rock did four jumps “yay” I said. After that we found little snappy crabs. We were astonished about how many crabs could fit under a tiny rock. We were screaming.

Next time we do waka ama I am going to try my hardest when I paddle.

E Learning Symposium

In Te Maunga Four people in our class got chosen to go to Ohaeawai School and to share learning to the Teachers and the Parents. So Tia,Bella,Liam and me decided to share about chapter chat. We did well by telling people what it is and telling them about what it does. We could of done better job by giving them the link and also showing them more things about chapter chat.We also did a brake out after we broke the box i mean opening the box we got lollies.

Here are some photos of us teaching Teachers and Parents and the Teachers and Parents telling us what to do.

Dear Mrs Lindsay,

I am writing to you because I think we should get the maths hub website because we really want to see what it can do and it looks so fun, I mean LEARNING fun. It helps our learning it is easy and clear and it saves time for the teacher.

It helps our learning because you can prove some evidence to your teacher. If we don’t get it we might not get to learn as much. Do you want to help us get better at things? If we get number hub it won’t just be for us but for the whole  school.

It can be easier for us because it’s clear and it is not confusing. Also it has activities that you can learn. It is faster to find a learning game instead of wasting your time trying to look for a game and link it so you don’t forget.

It saves time for the teacher because you can just write up counting to 1000 and it will come up But if we don’t get it then it will be hard for the teacher because they have to get all of the activities ready for us. Do you want to help all of the teachers?

Again I really think we should all get number hub so it can help our learning.
Thank you
