Gaming

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about how much time kids spend gaming online. In our class 91% of kids play online and 55% of kids lose track of time while playing. I enjoyed learning how many people play online and who doesn’t because it’s interesting for me.

Bees Wax Wraps

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about rubbish. We were able to make beeswax wraps (reusable wraps) to replace glad wrap . So what I did was I grabbed the fabric and some felt pens then I wrote my name on it and put some designs on it. I also wrote some of my friends names on the fabric. Then after that I dipped the fabric into the beeswax and I let the beeswax wrap dry out. I was really happy about it and can’t wait to use it.

Healthy And Unhealthy Drinks

In Te Ngahere we have been learning to drink and eat healthy things. Whaea Gina showed us how much sugar can be in a small Cola can. Whaea Gina placed three coloured papers on the floor and one of the papers was green (the green is to drink every day). She also placed an orange paper down (drink once a week), also red (drink once every month). She gave us a small cola can and said to place it on one of the papers we placed it on the red because, in a small coca cola can there is 10 teaspoons of sugar (that’s really bad). Then she gave us a milk carton, we placed it in green cause you should drink milk every day. After that she gave us a chocolate milk, then we put it into the orange. We put the chocolate milk into the orange because in the chocolate milk there is sugar which makes it a little unhealthy.

( This is really good to drink every day)

(this is okay to drink once a week)
(This one is really bad so you should drink these once a month)

Healthy And Unhealthy Takeaways

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about unhealthy and healthy takeaways with Whaea Gina.
I learnt lots of things like how much fat can be in fish and chips and also how much fat is in Carl’s JR
takeaways. Did you know subway is the healthiest takeaway (but has to have vegetables in it not just meat).
I enjoyed learning about how much fat there is in most takeaways. Next time I think I will remember about
how most takeaways are unhealthy and I won’t get it.

Here A picture

Carl's JR is really bad out of MacDonald, Fish and Chips, and KFC.

Technology

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about technology. Our class had to build something  out of timber and pallets. Rymon and I are making a shelf. We had to use less than six pieces of timber but we only used three pieces of timber. I think I did well by doing the measuring and making the angles right. I enjoyed sanding the pieces of timber. Next time I think I should of done my planning better. This is what it looks like.

Maths Goals T3

In Te Ngahere we have been setting goals for this term. I had to pick two subtraction and addition goals
(strategy), one algebra goal and two knowledge goals. I did well by setting goals that I need to learn.
I enjoyed making the words fancy and the background.

Miro Trees

For the past few weeks in Te Ngahere we have been learning about native, endemic and introduced birds, plants and animals in te ngahere. For my presentation my partner and I decided to pick the Miro tree.  I think I did well by presenting what Miro trees do in te ngahere. They are really interesting. Did you know miro trees leaves keep the ngaheres floor wet and moist. I really enjoyed learning about all the facts that I found .

Moment In Time

In Te Ngahere we have been learning to write descriptively about Te Ngahere which is a forest. We looked at some pictures then we described about them. We added what the forest looks like, smells like and what it feels like. I think I did really well with my descriptive writing. Also I did well by getting bad words and making them into better words. I enjoyed pretty much everything because I like describing things. I think I could have done better by including 3 or 4 paragraphs because I only used two. Here is my writing hope you like it.

Moment in time

The white, blue sky peeks through the trees hitting the ground , the patch of clouds start rising. If you listen closely you can hear birds tweeting and chirping. The wind and leaves swishing.  The leaf feels like a tough piece of paper. Vines swinging, across the bright forest. Trees feel like a rough brick that stands tall. Taking step by step the ground felt damped.

As you walk you can feel the wind slamming you fearless back and can see colourful flowers bursting up into the fresh air. As you get deeper into the forest it gets darker and darker. As the day went by trees past away clouds swished, and birds flew to a better environment.

What A Healthy Ecosystem Needs?

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about what makes a  healthy ecosystem. I think I did really well because I explained what the difference is between an unhealthy and healthy ecosystem looks like and what happens if the ecosystem becomes unbalanced . I enjoyed showing what I learned and next time I am going to put more information into my writing to make it sound interesting.

What A Healthy Ecosystem Needs?

A Healthy Ecosystem is made up of inorganic matter and organic matter.
Inorganic matter is a non living thing like water, air, rocks, nutrients and sun.
Organic matter is a living thing like kina, crayfish, seaweed and other sea creatures.
Also ecosystems needs producers, consumers and decomposers.

What is a Inorganic Matter?

Inorganic matter is a non living thing, like water, rocks, sun, air, nutrients and
other things. Inorganic matter is a part of the ecosystem. Inorganic matter is part of the
food chain, and that's how food chains start.

What is a organic matter?

Organic matter is a living thing, Organic matter is a compound that has carbon,
chemicals and nitrogen. Organic matter has fish, kina’s, carpetshark and crayfish.

What is a producer?

Producers are living things. Producers produce energy for consumers, like kelp.
Kelp gets energy from the sunlight and when the consumer eats the producer it gets
energy.

What is a consumer?

Consumers are living things. Consumer get energy from producers, like kina.
Here is a example, a consumer eats a producers then another consumer comes and
eats the other consumer so it’s like a food chain.

What is a Decomposer?

Decomposers break down dead sea creatures and releases nutrients such as carbon
and nitrogen that goes back into the environment also, means that nutrients goes back
into the ecosystem so the producers can use the nutrients.

When Ecosystems are fragile?

A healthy ecosystem is fragile, and if it becomes unbalanced the sea creatures will
start dying e.g if people keep catching crayfish then the kina will keep eating the kelp,
which means the other sea creatures will start dying because of people catching crayfish.
So now we know about healthy and unhealthy ecosystems.

Passion Project

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about passion project, we had to create something or learn something you're passionate about. I did well at figuring out how volcanoes erupt. I enjoyed discovering new things about volcanoes, it was fun. I think next time I could of done better by getting more information so it sounds interesting.

Food Chain

The past few weeks we we learning about food chains and it was hard trying to get the animation in place. I did the animation with Tia. The thing that I enjoyed was that me and Tia had a good time making the animation. The thing I could of done better was to add more information about food chains but I am really proud of myself. I hope you like Tia's and my food chain

My Metaphor Poem

In Te Ngahere we have been learning to write a poem about ourselves using metaphors.I think I did well by using descriptive words to describe myself best in my poem. I think I could do better by adding more detail to my poem about myself. The hard thing was trying to describe myself as something. At first I did not have any ideas but then it started to pop up in my brain. This is my first draft.

Next time I need to learn more about my family so I can put more writing in.
