In Te Ngahere we have been learning to write a poem about ourselves using metaphors.I think I did well by using descriptive words to describe myself best in my poem. I think I could do better by adding more detail to my poem about myself. The hard thing was trying to describe myself as something. At first I did not have any ideas but then it started to pop up in my brain. This is my first draft.

My Pepeha
In Te Ngahere we have been learning our Pepeha and adding our brothers, sisters, mum, dad and grandparents. On my Pepeha I did well by learning new words and saying the words properly. I enjoyed learning with everyone and trying my best at saying the words, also I like learning about my family. I also like sharing my work with other people. Next time I need to learn more about my family so I can put more writing in.

Camp
In Te Maunga we went camping at Coopers Beach on 27th of November. I was so excited when we went to Coopers Beach because there was lots of activities like the water slide, confidence course, slippery hockey and kayaking. Also there was two trampolines they were so bouncy that I could nearly touch the clouds. My favorite thing at camp was doing slippery hockey because I like it when we have to try get a goal and then you slip, that is fun. I wish we can go back in time and do it over and over again because I love camping. Here is Bella's, Vinnies's and my trailer we made.

Waka Ama
In Te Maunga we have been learning to write a quality recount. We did waka ama every Tuesday. Here is my story about waka ama.
Waka Ama
On the 31st of October 2017 Te Maunga went waka ama down in Waitangi so Constable Rob can teach us how to paddle our waka.
When we were getting set up for waka ama Constable Rob taught us how to put a life jacket on also we helped carry out the waka out into the salty water. I was jumping up and down and running around like a slithery snake.
We were all jumping in the waka so we could have a turn. When we were paddling we were using our hoe of Tu Maia never giving up. When I was paddling my arms felt like a squiggly noodle.
After waka ama we had free time I was skimming the rocks across the bumpy water and the rock did four jumps “yay” I said. After that we found little snappy crabs. We were astonished about how many crabs could fit under a tiny rock. We were screaming.
Next time we do waka ama I am going to try my hardest when I paddle.
